Scalp irritation

What do you notice ?

Find it hard to stop itching and have the irrepressible urge to scratch your head? Does your hair seem painful at the root, do you wrap your head in your hands to soothe the stinging and attempt to alleviate the heavy weight of your hair, running your fingers through the roots to lift it up?

Did you know ?

Keep a cool head

An itchy and flaky scalp may reveal aggressive factors linked to pollution and weather conditions or lifestyle (stress, styling). These are all factors that can affect the feel and appearance of skin on the scalp. The hair becomes dull and more lacklustre. A return to healthy feel involves the choice of specific hair care and a good healthy lifestyle.

What you should do

Gently massage your scalp to activate the microcirculation.

Choose a gentle shampoo specially formulated for sensitive skin or dry, flaky and itchy scalp.

What you should avoid

  • When drying your hair put your hair dryer on a lower temperature.
  • Avoid accessories that make you sweat such as a scarf, bandeau, helmet, hat, etc. Also ensure you wash headwear often.
  • Do not go overboard with blow drying, styling products and chemical products.
  • Don't overporocess your hair or style in a way which puts pressure on the scalp.

"I have an itchy scalp but a doctor has confirmed that there are no symptoms. I was wondering which of yours is worth trying "

For the concerns of an itchy scalp, I would have a look at our Dercos range and in particular the Ant-Dandruff Shyampoo. This will help reduce itchyness and sensitivity whilst also maintaining health hair and scalp. We also have a sensitive version of this shampoo as well, if you are concerned about this. I hope this helps!

"Which shampoo should I use as there is no dandruff and no symptoms on scalp according to a doctor ? "

If you are just looking for a shampoo that will help maintain healthy hair, I would have a look at Vichy's Dercos' Nourishing cream shampoo as you haven't advised me on any concerns regarding sensitivity or scalp issues. You may also find another product suitable within the Dercos range, so please see below the attached link to view all of the products: I hope this helps!

"I have vitiligo and I wondered if you could recommend a foundation that would cover my patches, be easy to use and not make it look like I have loads on? Is this even possible? "

I would start by having a look at Vichy's excellend Dermablend foundation which will offer brilliant coverage. You only need to use a small amount for total coverage and there are a wide range of shades available. I would suggest visiting a larger Boots to which we supply testers to so you can find a suitable shade. Please do let me know how you get on.
